Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes what type of information we collect and how we use it. It applies to pages hosted on our website, accessible at https://rhythmtowers.com. It also applies to the Rhythm Towers Forum at forum.rhythmtowers.com. This Privacy Policy is separate from our Terms of Service and is not applicable to any external third-party websites that are linked to from here.

What information we collect and what we use it for

When you visit our website

We use website analytics to understand how our website is performing, how people use it and where we should focus our efforts when trying to improve it. A simple example would be, if we learn that most of our visitors browse our website from their smartphone, we would consider focussing our efforts on making our website look/perform better for visitors on those devices. Or perhaps we start receiving a large portion of engaged and active visitors from Brazil, we might consider having our game and website translated into Portuguese to cater to that audience. Website analytics makes these decisions a lot easier and prevents us from wasting time optimizing or improving areas that do not need them, but we do not want to invade your privacy while doing this.

The anonymised information that is collected for our website analytics is limited to:

  • Page data: URLs visited, page titles, referrers, and query parameters
  • Visit information: Session duration, entry and exit pages
  • Device information: Browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, device type
  • Location data: Country and region (derived from IP address, which is not stored)
  • Marketing data: UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign)
  • Custom events: Such as whether a video was played to completion

IP addresses are only used temporarily to determine geographic location (country and region). The actual IP addresses are discarded and not stored in our database, preserving visitor anonymity while still providing geographic insights. All of the data that we store is aggregated data only and it does not directly identify individual visitors.

When you use the Forum

The forum collects the information needed to run accounts, public profiles, community features, moderation, and automatic translations. This may include your username, linked platform account details, optional country flag, session information, topics and replies, poll activity, reactions, watched topics, mentions, notifications, uploads, reports, and translated forum content. We use this to let you sign in, show your profile identity, publish and review content, support multiple languages, and keep the forum secure and usable.

You can browse the forum without signing in. To post, reply, edit your own posts, or use profile features, you need to sign in with a supported platform account.

The supported platform accounts and their own policy pages are:

We do not collect or store your platform account password. Sign-in is handled by the platform you choose, whose own rules still apply. We store the account identifier and profile details that platform returns, such as profile name, avatar, and public profile URL where available.

The forum data we collect is limited to:

  • Account data: Username, linked platform account identifiers, profile name/avatar where available, optional public profile URL, account role, ban/delete status, and optional country flag.
  • Session data: The forum session cookie needed to keep you signed in.
  • Content data: Topic titles, post text, sanitized post HTML, poll questions and options, uploaded files, filenames, file types, file sizes, and attachment storage paths.
  • Engagement data: Post reactions, poll votes, watched or muted topics, mentions, notifications, and solved-topic markers.
  • Moderation data: Reports, report reasons, moderation decisions shown to you, account bans, and content revision history.
  • Translation data: Detected source language, target language, translated forum content, and translation status where content is waiting for translation.
  • Public display data: Information shown on your public profile and posts, including connected account badges when enabled.

The forum uses the cookie needed for authentication and does not use third-party tracking cookies or third-party tracking scripts. If you delete your forum account, linked accounts, active sessions, reports you submitted, and account-level records are removed where the forum supports removal. Previously published public posts remain in-thread with your author name changed to Deleted User so conversations stay readable.

When automatic translation or language detection is enabled, forum text may be sent to OpenAI through its API. This can include topic titles, post text and sanitized HTML, poll questions and options, forum interface copy, category and board names, tags, and report reasons. We store translated output so the forum can display localized content without retranslating unchanged text. OpenAI describes API data handling in its API data controls and Privacy Policy.

Moderation alerts may be sent to moderators when content needs review or a report is submitted. These alerts can include your forum username, links to the relevant topic or post, a short content preview, and report reasons. Where we send those alerts through Discord, Discord's own Privacy Policy also applies.
